The Canadian launch
A bigger brief for Surface.
Microsoft has opened pre-orders for Surface Laptop Ultra, with its Canadian product page listing a starting price of C$3,899.99. The company announced that availability begins October 16. Configuration, retailer and delivery location can affect the final price and arrival date.
The focus is on work that can stretch an everyday laptop: complex creative projects, graphics-intensive applications and running supported AI tools locally. Microsoft is positioning the device for creators and developers; these are announced capabilities, rather than results from a Vancouver Television hands-on review.
One pool of memory. More possibilities.
The NVIDIA RTX Spark Superchip brings together Blackwell RTX graphics and a Grace CPU, with configurations offering up to 20 CPU cores and 128GB of unified memory. That memory is shared between the CPU and GPU, so the maximum figure is not a separate 128GB allocation for graphics.
For local workflows, the appeal is keeping supported models and project data on the device. Compatibility still matters: buyers should check their exact applications, plug-ins and model requirements before choosing a configuration.
The details you will use every day.
| Display | 15-inch touchscreen, 120Hz, Dolby Vision IQ and 100% DCI-P3 colour coverage. |
|---|---|
| Memory | Up to 128GB unified system memory; varies by configuration. |
| Storage | SSD configurations up to 2TB. |
| Connections | Three USB-C ports, USB-A, HDMI, SD card reader and headphone jack. |
| Charging | A built-in magnetic USB-C charging connection. |
| Touch input | Touchscreen interaction; Microsoft specifies that Surface Pen and Surface Slim Pen input are not supported. |
The large haptic touchpad and built-in ports are practical parts of the pitch, alongside the headline processor. Microsoft also points to repair guides, replacement components and upgradeable storage for longer-term ownership; service options vary by market.
Before you pre-order.
