BetMGM odds highlight WNBA award races as season resumes after international break

The WNBA regular season is set to resume on Thursday following the international break, setting up a 10-day sprint in which postseason seeding and award races will be closely watched. All eight teams have already secured postseason berths, with the final games determining seeding, according to the WNBA.

In the Rookie of the Year market, BetMGM has Minnesota Lynx guard Olivia Miles listed at -10000, while the WNBA Sixth Player of the Year market has Golden State Valkyries forward Janelle Salaún at -1000. The WNBA notes that both markets have been “off the board since early August,” with those figures representing the latest closing prices referenced in the odds report.

Defensive Player of the Year is portrayed as the most competitive of the markets still actively priced. BetMGM lists Valkyries wing Gabby Williams at -125 as the current favorite, while Aces forward A’ja Wilson is priced at +175. The WNBA also says Washington Mystics forward Shakira Austin (+550) and Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese (+1000) remain in the mix as listed threats.

Other major awards appear more settled in the current odds. Dallas Wings forward Jessica Shepard is -450 to win Most Improved Player, and the league’s odds report says she has been the favorite since early June after not having preseason odds. For Coach of the Year, the WNBA lists Cheryl Reeve at -1000, after guiding the Lynx to the league’s best record in the report’s framing while missing Napheesa Collier for much of the season.

For MVP, BetMGM’s latest pricing has Aces forward A’ja Wilson at -1400, with the WNBA listing her as the overwhelming favorite for her fifth MVP trophy. The report also shows Miles at +900 for MVP in her rookie season, adding that she would be the first player to do so since Candace Parker, if realized.
