Canada has called up MLS-based attackers Marcus Caldeira and Theo Corbeanu for Tuesday’s international friendly against the United States, head coach Jesse Marsch announced. The match is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on TNT, truTV, HBO Max, Universo and Peacock.

The new additions come as replacements for Cyle Larin and Tajon Buchanan, who both dropped out of national team camp due to injury. Caldeira and Corbeanu will report to Canada ahead of the third and final game of the September/October international window.

For Caldeira, the call-up is his first with Canada’s senior men’s program. The 21-year-old Minnesota United FC attacker was selected in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft and has recorded five goals and three assists in 11 appearances across all competitions during his first MLS season with the Loons. Canada’s potential senior CanMNT debut for Caldeira could come at Allianz Field, where Minnesota hosts its home matches.

Corbeanu receives his first call-up of the Marsch era after previously featuring for Canada in September 2022. The 22-year-old Toronto FC forward has registered eight goals and five assists in 46 MLS games since joining the club ahead of the 2025 campaign, earning this latest opportunity as Canada finalizes its roster for the window’s concluding friendly.

The timing of the squad update places both players into Canada’s plans for a home challenge at Allianz Field. Canada has opened the window with victories over Chile and Peru, and Tuesday’s opponent represents the toughest test of the three-game stretch based on the current form described in Canada’s buildup coverage.

According to the match preview information provided with the call-up announcement, the United States arrives for Tuesday’s friendly on a run of three consecutive lopsided wins during the current window. Canada’s coaching staff will therefore face the task of steadying its attack and defending against a U.S. side that has been scoring heavily across recent matches.

Despite the difficulty of the U.S. matchup in the current window, Canada’s recent record against the Americans under Marsch is described as positive heading into Tuesday’s game at Allianz Field. Canada previously beat the United States 2-1 in a September 2024 friendly, and then matched the same 2-1 scoreline in the 2025 CONCACAF Nations League third-place match.

With Larin and Buchanan out of camp, Marsch’s decision to add Caldeira and Corbeanu means Canada will look to integrate two MLS attackers as it closes the September/October window. Tuesday’s friendly will also determine whether Caldeira can make a senior CanMNT debut in Minnesota and whether Corbeanu can translate his first Marsch-era selection into game time against the United States.
