Red Bull to assess Hadjar before Azerbaijan return decision
Isack Hadjar. Image accompanying Formula 1’s official report.Red Bull will assess Isack Hadjar’s recovery before deciding whether he can return at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Team Principal Laurent Mekies said there had been no additional setback, with the French driver continuing to recover from a wrist injury sustained during training over the summer break.
Hadjar has missed the races at Zandvoort, Monza and Madrid. Liam Lawson has taken his place alongside Max Verstappen at Red Bull, while Yuki Tsunoda has filled Lawson’s seat at Racing Bulls during that period.
Mekies said the team would use the time before Azerbaijan to evaluate Hadjar, including simulator work to test him under driving conditions. A return remains conditional on his recovery; Red Bull does not want an early comeback to compromise his longer-term fitness.
The update leaves the Azerbaijan driver arrangements undecided. The race weekend in Baku runs from September 24 to 26, with the Grand Prix scheduled for Saturday. Vancouver Television’s F1 Race Centre lists the weekend sessions in Pacific time.
