MLS Disciplinary Committee issues fines and Mass Confrontation Policy penalties after Matchday 27

The MLS Disciplinary Committee announced disciplinary rulings following Matchday 27 of the 2026 MLS season, including individual fines and club and staff penalties tied to separate incidents. LAFC defender Aaron Long was fined for failing to leave the field in a timely manner in the 36th minute of LAFC’s match against the San Jose Earthquakes on September 19.

The Committee also fined New York City FC forward Alonso Martínez for violating the league’s policy regarding simulation/embellishment in the 71st minute of NYCFC’s match against Red Bull New York on September 18.

In addition, the MLS Disciplinary Committee found the Philadelphia Union and Sporting Kansas City in violation of the Mass Confrontation Policy in the 45th+ minute of their match on September 19. The league said both clubs were in violation for the first time this season, and fines were issued to both clubs, along with Philadelphia Union head coach Ryan Richter and Sporting Kansas City head coach Raphaël Wicky, reflecting their roles in the mass confrontation.

As part of the same Mass Confrontation Policy ruling, the Committee stated that Philadelphia Union forward Bruno Damiani, midfielder Danley Jean Jacques, defender Kai Wagner, and athletic trainer Paul Rushing were subject to fines for inciting and/or escalating a mass confrontation, along with Sporting Kansas City forward Stephen Afrifa, midfielder Zorhan Bassong, defender Moisés Mosquera, and assistant coach Ashley Wallace.
