Red Bull confirms Laurent Mekies contract extension through 2031
Image accompanying the official F1 announcement.Red Bull has confirmed that Laurent Mekies will continue in his role as Team Principal through the 2031 season. The team says the French engineer has signed a long-term contract extension that keeps him as Red Bull’s CEO and Team Principal for the duration of the deal.
Mekies joined Red Bull in a senior capacity after being promoted from Racing Bulls in July 2025. Since taking on the leadership role, he has overseen the Milton Keynes-based team through a difficult transition period under the sport’s new regulations, including a 2026 start in which Red Bull fell behind its rivals.
Despite that early struggle in 2026, Red Bull says its sustained work over the course of the season—guided by Mekies—began to produce stronger outcomes. The team points to Max Verstappen delivering consecutive wins in Malaysia and Singapore, a result Red Bull describes as putting the team back into contention for regular victories.
The extension also follows other recent contract decisions within Red Bull’s wider driver group. The team notes that both Verstappen and his teammate Isack Hadjar have received contract renewals in recent months, and it says Mekies’ new agreement further underlines the organization’s focus on long-term consistency.
With Mekies committed through 2031, Red Bull will enter future seasons with continuity at the top of its leadership structure as it seeks to translate the late-2026 momentum described by the team into sustained race-winning performance.
