MLS Disciplinary Committee fines Taylor Calheira for simulation in Sporting Kansas City–Houston match

The MLS Disciplinary Committee announced Matchday 28 disciplinary rulings on Sept. 29, including a fine for Sporting Kansas City forward Taylor Calheira for a simulation/embellishment violation in the 48th+ minute of Kansas City’s match against Houston Dynamo FC on Sept. 26. The committee stated the penalty was tied to Calheira’s conduct under the league’s simulation/embellishment policy and was issued based on the incident timing in the contest.

In additional Matchday 28 discipline, the MLS Disciplinary Committee found Inter Miami CF in violation of the Mass Confrontation Policy after an incident in the 26th minute of Inter Miami’s match against the Columbus Crew on Sept. 27. The committee said the club’s breach marked the first time in the 2026 season that Inter Miami CF has violated the Mass Confrontation Policy.

Alongside the club-level fine, the committee also issued a fine to Inter Miami CF head coach Cristian ‘Kily’ González for his role in the mass confrontation, according to the league’s determination. The committee’s announcement explicitly tied both the club and head coach penalties to the mass confrontation incident described as occurring in the 26th minute against the Columbus Crew.

The MLS Disciplinary Committee further announced fines for multiple Inter Miami CF players “due to their roles in the mass confrontation.” The league named defenders Sergio Reguilón and Micael, midfielders Yannick Bright and Rodrigo De Paul, and forward Daniel Pinter as players subject to fines for inciting and/or escalating the confrontation.

The league’s release establishes that the fines were connected to specific matches and specific match moments: Calheira’s simulation/embellishment violation in Kansas City’s Sept. 26 match versus Houston Dynamo FC in the 48th+ minute, and Inter Miami’s Mass Confrontation Policy violation against the Columbus Crew on Sept. 27 in the 26th minute. The committee’s notice also identifies the head coach and players penalized for their roles in the mass confrontation, clarifying that the Inter Miami penalties extend beyond the club itself.
