UFC GYM to open in Murfreesboro Nov. 14 with Jessica Eye and ribbon-cutting

UFC GYM will hold a grand opening in Murfreesboro on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 205 N. Thompson Lane.

The Story

UFC GYM is set to open its doors in Murfreesboro on Saturday, Nov. 14, converting a former YMCA building at 205 N. Thompson Lane into a 41,015-square-foot fitness complex.

The grand-opening celebration begins at 8 a.m. and includes an official ribbon-cutting, an MMA skills session and a meet-and-greet with UFC veteran Jessica Eye, the announcement says.

A vendor village will feature local businesses throughout the day, and the schedule wraps at 5 p.m. with a Country Fusion class described as a low-impact dance workout that blends line dancing with fitness.

The UFC GYM club is housed in the YMCA building’s original gymnasium and includes eight Olympic lifting platforms, two full-size fight floors for jiu-jitsu, boxing and MMA training, a turf conditioning zone and group classes. The broader complex also features a recovery suite with cryotherapy and a sauna, a dedicated glute room, cardio equipment and an elevated indoor track.

Membership options start at $24.99 per month and include Access, Performance+ and Elite tiers. Elite members receive recovery services and unlimited kids club access, and select tiers include unlimited guest privileges, the release says. It also states that founding memberships include a $1 enrollment fee on every tier.

The kids program is set up in a separate zone with its own full-size gym and drop-off area for children ages 6 and older, including Youth Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Youth Boxing and Youth Daily Ultimate Training. When youth participants age out, the program indicates they can transition into a standard adult membership.

The Murfreesboro location is owned and operated by Franklin resident Carmine Grassi, who has worked in the automotive industry for nearly four decades. The announcement says he started selling cars in 1987, became a dealership owner in 2011 with Infiniti of Cool Springs and added Ford Lincoln of Franklin in November 2017.

UFC GYM says the Murfreesboro club is expected to create more than 50 new jobs in management, coaching, personal training, youth programming, membership and operations. The release also says Grassi plans to open two additional UFC GYM locations in the region over the next three years and intends to work with Middle Tennessee State University and local middle and high school athletic programs on partnerships offering strength, conditioning and agility training.
