Seahawks’ Sam Darnold ruled out for Week 9 vs. Cardinals with quadriceps injury

Seattle head coach Mike Macdonald said Sam Darnold will miss the Seahawks’ Week 9 game against the Arizona Cardinals after suffering a quadriceps injury late in Monday’s loss to the Chicago Bears.

The Story

Seattle will make a quarterback change for its Week 9 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals after head coach Mike Macdonald announced on Wednesday, Nov. 4 that starter Sam Darnold will miss the game.

Macdonald said Darnold suffered the injury to a quadriceps muscle late in Monday night’s loss to the Chicago Bears.

The Seahawks are expecting Drew Lock to start at quarterback. Lock played the bulk of Seattle’s first two games after Darnold injured a glute muscle early in the season opener, when the Seahawks won both contests.

With Lock nursing an elbow injury in recent weeks, third-string quarterback Jalen Milroe will also prepare to play.
