The Story
RCMP say a two-vehicle car crash near Chase has resulted in two fatalities.
On Oct. 1 at around 3 p.m., BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) was called to a crash in the 5300 block of Highway 1, just west of Chase.
The crash involved a Mercedes SUV and a Honda Civic. Chase RCMP were called to the scene shortly after BCEHS arrived.
BCEHS attempted life-saving efforts on the two occupants from the Honda Civic. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
RCMP said the two people have been partially identified as a 47-year-old woman and her 11-year-old son, who are from Kamloops.
The driver of the Mercedes SUV was transported to hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
“The loss of life in any incident is tragic, and our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of those affected during this incredibly difficult time,” said Cpl. Brett Urano, an RCMP spokesperson.
RCMP said investigators are working to determine what occurred and asked anyone who may have witnessed the incident or captured relevant dash camera footage to come forward.
