Heavy.com writer Michael DeRosa proposed a trade sending Vancouver forward Jake DeBrusk to the Los Angeles Kings in a package that would return Samuel Helenius, Joel Armia and multiple draft picks.
The Story
Heavy.com’s Michael DeRosa has floated a trade proposal that would send Vancouver Canucks forward Jake DeBrusk to the Los Angeles Kings.
The suggestion comes amid a difficult stretch for Vancouver, which DeRosa said began the season with wins in two of its first three games before dropping to a 2-7-1 record after a 4-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday.
DeRosa also said the Canucks have lost each of their last seven games, framing DeBrusk as a top trade candidate and noting he has been in the “rumor mill” since last season.
In the proposed swap, DeRosa wrote the Kings would get DeBrusk, along with a 2027 sixth-round pick, while the Canucks would receive Samuel Helenius, Joel Armia, a 2027 second-round pick and a 2028 fourth-round pick.
DeRosa’s pitch described DeBrusk as a scoring option who has scored at least 23 goals in four of his last five seasons, including a career-high 25 goals with Vancouver in 2024-25.
On the Kings’ side, DeRosa said Los Angeles has started the season with a 0-4-2 record and remains the only NHL team without a win, arguing the club could seek additional offence.
The proposal also referenced a separate Bleacher Report piece by Adam Gretz that, according to DeRosa, listed the Kings among potential trade destinations for DeBrusk this season.
