Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said Kenneth Walker III is playing at the “highest level in the league” ahead of a matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Story
The defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks have opened the season 3-3 and are 3.0 games behind the first-place San Francisco 49ers, with their running game taking a major hit, as they prepare to face the Kansas City Chiefs this week.
Much of Kansas City’s offence has been driven by new back Kenneth Walker III, who arrived as a free-agent signing during the offseason. Macdonald said he is familiar with Walker’s early impact and praised his production, saying, “He’s playing…probably at the highest level in the league right now,” in comments reported via SiriusXM NFL Radio on October 22, 2026.
Walker has carried that momentum into the Chiefs’ resurgent start, rushing for 665 yards with 6 touchdowns and averaging 6.5 yards per carry. He is also averaging 133.0 rushing yards per game.
Seattle’s ground game has been less consistent. Emanuel Wilson has 303 rushing yards but is averaging 3.5 yards per carry. Rookie Jadarian Price has 119 rushing yards but has appeared in just three games after suffering a chest injury, and Macdonald indicated Price is close to making a comeback.
The Chiefs are among the league’s top teams with a 5-0 record, placing them 1.5 games ahead in the AFC West and one of three undefeated teams in the league.
