Hope RCMP are investigating a fatal collision between a pedestrian and a pickup truck on Highway 3 near Highway 5.

Hope RCMP are investigating a collision in which a pedestrian was struck by a pickup truck on Highway 3 near Highway 5, resulting in the pedestrian’s death.
Police said the callout began shortly after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, when RCMP received reports about a pedestrian walking in the slow lane on the highway. Soon after, officers were called to a crash at or near the same stretch of Highway 3.
The pedestrian was located and pronounced dead at the scene.
The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) was brought in to process the scene. As part of that work, RCMP said Highway 3 eastbound was closed for several hours.
RCMP said the pickup driver remained on scene and is working with investigators. The investigation is ongoing.
For motorists travelling through the Hope area, the incident underscores the risks of walking along highways and the impact of closures while forensic teams reconstruct serious crashes.
