Cirque du Soleil brings Luzia to Vancouver, its first touring show to incorporate water

Cirque du Soleil’s touring production Luzia arrives at Concord Pacific Place on Nov. 5 and runs until Jan. 10, 2027.

The Story

Cirque du Soleil is bringing its touring production Luzia to Vancouver, described as “a waking dream of Mexico” and the company’s first touring act incorporating water.

The production will open on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at Concord Pacific Place, located at 88 Pacific Blvd., and it will run until Jan. 10, 2027.

According to Christine Achampong, Cirque senior publicist, 137 cast and crew members tour together, including people from 28 countries. “Pick a place on the map, and there’s a good chance that someone on the tour is from there,” Achampong said.

Achampong, who has been with the company on and off for seven years, said she enjoys the connection among the team while working on the road. “It’s the best job in the world, truly. When you leave it, you really miss it,” she said.

In behind-the-scenes preparations for the show, Cirque crew maintain more than 1,000 pieces of wardrobe, 200 pairs of shoes and handle 27 weekly loads of laundry. The crew continue ongoing work such as repainting, restitching and polishing items to keep them in performance-ready condition, including an example of someone polishing a mirrored dress with Windex.

Achampong also described herself as a “mountain girl,” saying she enjoys spending time in Vancouver and likes the city’s culinary scene.
