Deni Avdija led Portland with 26 points as the Trail Blazers beat the Sacramento Kings 128-120 to stay undefeated at 2-0 on Friday.

The Story

Deni Avdija had 26 points, six rebounds and six assists as the Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Sacramento Kings 128-120 on Friday to improve to 2-0.

Damian Lillard and Toumani Camara scored 19 points each for Portland. Avdija also paced the team’s offence as rookie Darius Acuff Jr. finished with 33 points for the Trail Blazers.

Sacramento was led by Domantas Sabonis, who posted a 27-point, 19-rebound, 10-assist triple-double in the Kings’ home opener. Zach LaVine added 22 points.

The Kings held momentum early, building a 12-point lead after LaVine hit three free throws midway through the first quarter and taking a 64-59 advantage into halftime.

Portland flipped the game in the third quarter, beginning a 15-0 surge that was capped by a Camara three-pointer to put the Trail Blazers ahead 74-64. In that stretch, Portland made 8 of 19 shots from 3-point range after going 4 of 22 from distance in the first half.

Sacramento narrowed the gap late. Sabonis’ three-pointer with 3:21 left made it 121-118, but Donovan Clingan scored again and Portland converted two free throws, with Avdija adding a free throw at 43.5 seconds remaining to help seal the win.

The Trail Blazers next play the Los Angeles Lakers on the road at Crypto.com Arena on Tuesday, while the Kings visit the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday.
