Vancouver Rise extend Jessica De Filippo through 2027 after tying NSL lead with 11 goals

The Vancouver Rise have signed striker Jessica De Filippo to a contract extension through 2027, keeping their leading NSL scorer in place for the next two seasons and beyond.

The Story

The Vancouver Rise have secured their top goalscorer for the future, announcing an extension for striker Jessica De Filippo that keeps her with the Northern Super League club through 2027.

The club made the decision public Friday, with sporting director Stephanie Labbé describing De Filippo as having developed into one of the league’s leading players since joining the Rise.

Now 25, De Filippo has produced 11 goals and four assists for Vancouver this season, putting her level with Elyse Bennett of the Montreal Roses for the NSL scoring lead.

Vancouver’s offence has been driven in large part by De Filippo’s output during stretches of the campaign, including a recognition that came after her August performance. She was named the league’s player of the month for August following a run that included five goals and two assists.

De Filippo signed with Vancouver ahead of the team’s inaugural season last year, and the move helped establish the Rise as immediate contenders. Vancouver went on to win the first-ever NSL championship in November.

In the club’s release, De Filippo said she has grown as both a player and a person since arriving in Vancouver and expressed satisfaction with continuing her career with the Rise.

The extension is also timely as the Rise continue to fight for postseason positioning. With a record of 8-10-2, Vancouver is looking to tighten its grip on the league’s final playoff spot.

On Saturday, the Rise will host a key rival, the Montreal Roses, in a matchup involving two clubs currently positioned near the top of the standings. Montreal enters the game with a 11-4-5 record.

The De Filippo extension gives the Rise added continuity for games that can carry significant playoff consequences, especially as the club faces a direct opponent in the Roses that includes the NSL scoring race’s other top name.

For Vancouver and Canadian fans following the Northern Super League, the agreement underscores the club’s intent to build its core around proven production, with De Filippo remaining central to the Rise’s scoring equation well into the 2027 season.
