The Story
TransLink says a “Synthetic” station that has appeared on some SkyTrain passenger information displays is the result of a minor software glitch affecting a small number of Mark V trains.
The issue has drawn attention from passengers online over the past month, after some displays began showing “Synthetic” as an end-of-line destination, with the wording appearing at the last stop on certain screens.
In a statement to reporters, TransLink spokesperson Jawn Jang said, “The word ‘Synthetic’ appearing as a destination on some SkyTrain passenger information displays is the result of a minor software glitch affecting a small number of Mark V trains.”
Jang added that TransLink’s IT team is working on a fix, but the bug has persisted.
TransLink also acknowledged the glitch in its own social media posts, saying it was checking out “Synthetic Station now” and continuing to look into the issue.
