Abbotsford and Mission police remove impaired drivers and speeders in Mission Bridge roadblock

Abbotsford Police Department and Mission RCMP conducted a Friday night roadblock on Mission Bridge targeting impaired driving and speeding.

The Story

Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) and Mission RCMP joined forces on Friday night to set up a roadblock on Mission Bridge, as part of traffic enforcement focused on impaired driving and compliance with traffic laws.

Police say the roadblock officers were looking for signs of impairment and ensuring drivers were following traffic laws.

AbbyPD reported that six cars were impounded for excessive speeding, with many drivers recorded going more than 70 km/h over the posted speed limit.

The AbbyPD Traffic Enforcement Unit was also operating in what police described as “targeted” areas known for impaired driving, and officers said they took 10 impaired drivers off the road during those patrols.

The enforcement action comes a week after AbbyPD announced it had taken 12 impaired drivers off the road in 12 hours.
