The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says Soup Time French Onion Soup is being recalled because it contains undeclared wheat and gluten that could trigger serious or life-threatening reactions in some people.
The Story
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is issuing a recall for Soup Time brand French Onion Soup after discovering undeclared wheat and gluten in the product.
The CFIA says the recall was triggered by a consumer complaint, including one reported reaction associated with consuming the soup.
In the notice, the CFIA warns that consumers who are allergic or sensitive to wheat or gluten should not eat the recalled product and that people with celiac disease or other gluten-related disorders should also avoid it.
The CFIA classifies the recall as a Class I recall, which it defines as a high risk that consuming the food may lead to serious health problems or death.
The product was sold in Alberta and online. The CFIA lists the UPC as 6 28250 50659 4, and says the recall applies to all codes where wheat is not declared on the label.
Consumers are instructed to either throw out the recalled products or return them to the location where they were purchased.
