Lorne Doerkson was selected as British Columbia’s next premier after the Conservatives won a majority following a late-month snap-election call by former premier David Eby.
The Story
British Columbians have chosen Lorne Doerkson as their next premier.
Doerkson’s victory came after former premier David Eby called a snap election late last month.
Eby’s snap-election call followed Kerry-Lynne Findlay’s resignation from her role as leader of the B.C. Conservative Party, after about three months in the job.
After Findlay stepped down, Doerkson was tapped to become interim leader of the B.C. Conservative Party.
The postelection discussion also notes that Doerkson was seen speaking during a news conference in Vancouver on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026, following the election result.
