The Coast Mountain Film Fest will return to the Rio Theatre in Vancouver on Nov. 5 with Ski Night and Snowboard Night screenings.
The Story
The Coast Mountain Film Fest is returning to Vancouver’s Rio Theatre on Thursday, Nov. 5, with two feature lineups for ski and snowboard fans celebrating winter in the mountains.
Ski Night begins at 7 p.m. with Inside the Season, a new film from Head Freeskiing and Jeff Thomas Creative that follows the Head and Tyrolia global freeskiing team through the 2025-26 winter season. The film was shot across locations including Whistler, Pemberton, Haines, Alaska and Are, Sweden, and highlights the full season rhythm for the team, including travel, storm chasing, road trips and time spent in the mountains.
Ski Night will also include The Way of Snow | Yuko no Michi, a short film from Japan featuring two Whistler athletes and a different perspective on life in the mountains.
At 9:30 p.m., Snowboard Night brings back CapiTA: Defenders of Awesome for its 15th anniversary screening. The 2011 film is described as featuring a lineup of riders and the big tricks and style that made it a favourite among snowboarders.
Snowboard Night will also include shorts from the 2026 season, along with prizes and an opportunity to start another winter at the theatre with fellow snowboarders. Tickets are available for Ski Night via www.riotheatretickets.ca/events/45428-coast-mountain-film-fest-ski-night-and-double-feature-pass, and Snowboard Night tickets are on sale through the Rio Theatre website.
