Xiaoyu Bistro opened at #1101-3779 Sexsmith Rd. in Richmond and is offering Taiwanese comfort food, including night-market and seafood dishes, into late hours.

The Story

Xiaoyu Bistro has opened in Richmond’s Continental Shopping Centre at Cambie and Sexsmith roads, taking over a former Uncle Lu’s unit.

The bistro is owned and operated by chef Alan Chen from Taichung, Taiwan. Its name, Xiaoyu, directly translates to “little fish” and reflects a seafood-focused menu.

The menu includes Taiwanese comfort-food favourites such as lobster bisque paofan (cooked rice submerged in flavourful broth), truffle and scallion oil geoduck, and crab and sticky rice. It also lists items including prawns cooked with garlic crisps, chili clam and chicken soup, lobster risotto, and baked oysters.

Xiaoyu Bistro also features classic Taiwanese cold dishes such as century egg and silken tofu, smashed cucumber salad, and dried radish omelet.

Hours are Sunday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. The restaurant is located at #1101-3779 Sexsmith Rd.
