Chilliwack Fire Department says one person died after crews responded to a house fire on Young Road on Friday.
The Story
Crews were called to the 9800 block of Young Road in Chilliwack at about 2:15 p.m. on Friday, according to Chilliwack Fire Department.
The department said firefighters learned that one person may still be inside the home when they arrived.
In a news release issued Friday night, the fire department said firefighters extinguished the fire and located an individual inside the house, and that the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The department said extensive fire, smoke and water damage prevented other residents from being able to return on Friday night.
Chilliwack Fire Department said the origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation.
