Seahawks fantasy contributor Scott Engel outlined Week 8 lineup and waiver wire targets while the team acquired All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson from the Colts pending a physical.
The Story
The Seahawks’ fantasy outlook heading into Week 8 has been shaped by injuries and bye weeks, with Engel noting that four more teams are on byes and that fantasy managers may need replacements for key starters from the 49ers, Giants, Saints and Texans.
While preparing for the week, the Seahawks completed a major in-season trade move, acquiring All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson from the Indianapolis Colts for a pair of draft picks, pending a physical.
Engel said offensive linemen don’t score fantasy points, but they can affect the production of skill-position players, and he argued Nelson’s pass protection and run blocking are relevant for Seattle’s fantasy running backs.
According to Engel, Nelson’s run blocking grade of 82.3 on Pro Football Focus ranks seventh in the NFL, and the addition is expected to strengthen the fantasy outlook for Seahawks rushers.
Engel pointed to Emanuel Wilson, who rushed for 100 yards for the first time as a Seahawk in Week 7, saying Wilson should remain in fantasy starting consideration when Seattle asks him to carry often.
He also referenced Zach Charbonnet’s touchdown usage from the previous season, saying Charbonnet rushed for 12 TDs last season and, when he returns, should continue to carry significant touchdown promise.
Jadarian Price’s outlook was also described as improving with Nelson’s arrival, with Engel saying Price’s vision, cutback moves and elusiveness can be more effective with Nelson as another prime blocker, and that Price could contribute as a fantasy RB3/flex option when active.
For running backs to start in Week 8, Engel recommended Ollie Gordon II (Dolphins), noting he has scored touchdowns in four straight games and has had 85-plus rushing yards in three of his last four outings.
Engel also suggested Jordan Mason (Vikings) in a matchup against Detroit, describing Detroit as the lowest-ranked defense in the NFL and Mason as returning for a second game after a thumb injury.
For the Rams, Engel listed Blake Corum, saying Corum carried a career-high 17 times in the prior week and has scored three rushing touchdowns from scrimmage over his past three games.
Engel added Tony Pollard (Titans) as a Week 8 starter, pointing to his previous week’s three rushing touchdowns and 129 rushing yards, and tying the recommendation to Cincinnati’s 18th-ranked rushing defense.
On the waiver wire for running backs, Engel highlighted Jonah Coleman (Broncos) as someone he expects to carry the ball frequently, and listed Rachaad White (Commanders) as a potential pickup after a dozen touches in his last start.
Engel also included Seth McGowan (Colts), Kaelon Black (49ers) as roster insurance behind Christian McCaffrey, Zonovan Knight (Cardinals) as a continuing part of Arizona’s backfield mix, and Samaje Perine and Devin Singletary as additional names in the running back rankings.
For wide receivers to start, Engel recommended Michael Wilson (Cardinals) and said Dallas ranks 27th in fantasy points per game allowed to wide receivers, while noting Wilson is eighth in the NFL in receiving targets with 66.
Engel also urged starting Stefon Diggs (Commanders), pointing to him being targeted seven-plus times in each of the past three games, catching four touchdown passes in five games, and benefiting from a Philadelphia defense that allows the second-most fantasy points per game to wide receivers.
For the Raiders, Engel listed Tre Tucker, saying he has been heavily targeted by Kirk Cousins recently and recorded three touchdown catches over the past two games, and he recommended Keenan Allen (Colts) as a viable fantasy WR3/flex option.
In the waiver wire rankings for wide receivers, Engel cited KC Concepcion (Browns) after a Week 7 breakout that included eight receptions for 129 yards, and listed Omar Cooper Jr. (Jets) after consecutive 100-yard outings with a touchdown catch in each.
Engel also included Makai Lemon (Eagles), saying injuries have pushed him into a larger role and that he had seven receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown in Week 7.
He listed Jordyn Tyson (Saints) as a receiver who could make his pro debut in Week 9 after missing the first seven weeks with a hamstring problem, and added Keon Coleman (Bills) after touchdown catches in three consecutive games.
For tight ends to start, Engel recommended Dallas Goedert (Eagles) and Hunter Henry (Patriots), and he said Goedert should remain a frequent target as the Eagles work through multiple offensive injuries.
On tight end waiver targets, Engel highlighted Brenton Strange and Chigoziem Okonkwo, along with other options including Terrance Ferguson, AJ Barner, Mason Taylor, and Greg Dulcich.
Engel’s quarterback recommendations for Week 8 included Kyler Murray (Vikings) and Jacoby Brissett (Cardinals), describing Minnesota as facing the worst passing defense in the NFL and saying Brissett is a viable streaming option because Dallas has allowed 12 touchdown passes in seven games.
In the quarterback waiver rankings, Engel listed Malik Willis (Dolphins) and multiple additional names, and he also provided a list of kickers to consider for Week 8.
For defense streaming, Engel named Cincinnati versus Tennessee, New England versus Miami, Jacksonville versus Indianapolis, and Washington versus Philadelphia.
