The Story
Canada’s Bianca Andreescu advanced into the Cali Open final on Saturday after beating France’s Alice Tubello 6-0, 6-4 in their women’s singles semifinal.
The match was mostly played on Friday before a thunderstorm caused a delay, with Andreescu leading 6-0, 5-4 when play stopped.
In the semifinal, Andreescu broke on five of her 11 break-point chances and served two aces without a double fault.
The result followed Andreescu’s quick turnaround after she later lost 7-6 (4), 6-3 to Spain’s Leyre Romero Gormaz in the final, where Romero Gormaz converted 6 of 10 break-point chances.
