The Story
The Vancouver Canucks will be without forward Jake DeBrusk on Saturday when they host the Calgary Flames at Rogers Arena.
DeBrusk is dealing with an illness and was sent home to recover, according to Canucks head coach Manny Malhotra.
Malhotra said DeBrusk “showed up with an illness today at Rogers Arena” and confirmed he “won’t be in the lineup Saturday vs. Calgary.”
Through Vancouver’s first two games against the Edmonton Oilers, DeBrusk has appeared in both contests and recorded one assist.
DeBrusk remains under contract with Vancouver for five more years at $5.5 million per season.
DeBrusk began his NHL career with the Boston Bruins, who selected him 14th overall in the first round of the 2015 NHL Draft, before signing with the Canucks in 2024 on a seven-year, $38.5 million contract.
