Hurricanes head to Vancouver for a Tuesday showdown with Canucks at 10:00 PM EDT

Carolina is set to face the Vancouver Canucks for its second and final meeting of the season at 10:00 PM EDT on Tuesday.

The Story

The Carolina Hurricanes are heading to British Columbia to take on the Vancouver Canucks for their second and final meeting this season in Game 3 of a five-game Western Conference road trip.

The game is scheduled for 10:00 PM EDT.

Carolina enters the matchup after its league-leading seven-game winning streak was snapped in a 3-2 loss to the Calgary Flames. The defeat also included another setback on the roster: Mark Jankowski was unable to hit the ice due to a lower-body concern and was shipped back to Raleigh.

Vancouver’s recent form has been uneven as well. The Canucks ended their own six-game Eastern Conference road trip with only a single point after an overtime loss to the Florida Panthers on Thursday, and they will be playing with two days of rest as they open a three-game homestand on Tuesday.

In goal, the Hurricanes are listed with Brandon Bussi and Pyotr Kochetkov. Bussi has posted a 2.98 goals-against average and an .882 save percentage this season, while Kochetkov is noted as having more rest. Vancouver’s goaltending is listed as Leevi Merilainen and Kevin Lankinen, with Merilainen recording a 2.51 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage this season.

Carolina’s special teams numbers entering the game include a power play at 25.6% (7th) and a penalty kill at 91.4% (3rd). Vancouver’s power play is listed at 20.0% (16th) and its penalty kill at 58.1% (32nd).

The Hurricanes’ projected lineups list Sebastian Aho, Andrei Svechnikov and Jordan Martinook among forwards, with Jaccob Slavin, Jalen Chatfield, K’Andre Miller and Sean Walker on defence. Projected Vancouver forwards include Elias Pettersson and Brock Boeser, with defence listed including Filip Hronek and Victor Mancini.

As part of the road trip, Carolina’s sequence of games runs Saturday through Saturday: the Winnipeg Jets (Saturday), Calgary Flames (Sunday), Canucks (Tuesday), Edmonton Oilers (Thursday), and the St. Louis Blues (Saturday). Monday, the Hurricanes placed Taylor Hall on injured reserve.
