President Donald Trump said he believes press secretary Katie Zacharia could be “better off” without the job and added he will decide later.
The Story
President Donald Trump suggested Friday that his new White House press secretary, Katie Zacharia, might not stay on the job much longer.
Speaking to reporters on the lawn as he left the White House for Georgia, Trump said, “I told her, ‘I think you’re better off being happy,’” and added that he plans to make a final determination later.
Trump said Zacharia had been “very unfairly” treated and remarked that she had been “brutalized by the media.”
When asked who might replace Zacharia, Trump said that many people would want the job, and he reiterated his view that Zacharia was “treated very unfairly.”
