A pedestrian was struck early Monday at Granville Street and West 52nd Avenue and died in hospital, and police are asking for witness and video footage.

Vancouver Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision in the city’s Oakridge neighbourhood that occurred Monday, Sept. 28, shortly after 1 a.m. at Granville Street and West 52nd Avenue.
The Vancouver Police Department said a 27-year-old man was struck while crossing the street. Police reported that the man was treated at the scene before later dying in hospital.
In a statement, VPD said the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
Police are now seeking witnesses who may have seen what happened, including anyone who has CCTV or dash-cam footage from Granville Street between West 41st Avenue and West 52nd Avenue.

VPD said this is the second major pedestrian collision in Vancouver in just over a month where investigators are requesting public assistance.
On Friday, Aug. 21, police reported a 23-year-old woman was crossing at the intersection of Davie Street and Pacific Boulevard when she was struck by a blue sedan around 9:30 p.m.
In that Aug. 21 collision, police said the driver did not remain at the scene and was last seen driving eastbound on Pacific Boulevard from Davie Street. The pedestrian was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Constable Darren Wong said investigators believe there were witnesses in the area and asked them, as well as anyone with dash-cam footage, to contact police about the Aug. 21 incident.
The Vancouver collisions follow a broader period of serious crashes on Metro Vancouver roadways. Earlier, BC Highway Patrol took over an investigation into a fatal two-car collision that closed Highway 1 through Burnaby for more than 10 hours.
BC Highway Patrol’s involvement was noted after the crash prompted a prolonged closure of a major corridor, underscoring the impact of serious traffic incidents on regional travel.
For residents near the current collision area, police’s specific request for footage covers a defined stretch of Granville Street, which can help investigators compare vehicle movements and pedestrian activity during the moments leading up to the collision.
