The Story
The Abbotsford Canucks began their 2026-27 home schedule with a sweep over the Coachella Valley Firebirds, winning both games in front of a full Rogers Forum crowd.
Head coach Ryan Papaioannou called it “an ideal way to start the season at home,” adding that it was “nice to score a goal the world and hear some people cheer for us.”
The Canucks also received standout performances from players including defenceman Gavin White, who contributed with multiple points during the home opener.
Papaioannou also praised goalie Ty Young for his work in the team’s late-game stretch, saying it was “pretty impressive” given that Young had not played in the previous few games.
Abbotsford will continue its home stand on October 24 at 5:00 p.m. PT and on October 25 at 3:00 p.m. PT.
