Analysis: Tampa Bay could look at Jake DeBrusk to strengthen its top six

An Oct. 18 analysis says Tampa Bay’s top-six needs another winger and points to Vancouver’s Jake DeBrusk as a fit.

The Story

In an Oct. 18, 2026 analysis, Michael DeRosa argued that the Tampa Bay Lightning could look to Vancouver Canucks forward Jake DeBrusk to strengthen their top six.

The analysis notes the Lightning have started the 2026-27 season with a 6-2-0 record and sit second in the Atlantic Division.

DeRosa suggested the Lightning’s second line could benefit from “another skilled winger” to work alongside Jake Guentzel and Brayden Point.

The analysis adds that DeBrusk has scored three goals and five points in eight games this season with the Canucks. It also cites his 2025-26 production of 23 goals and 42 points in 81 games for Vancouver.

DeRosa also tied the suggestion to the idea that DeBrusk has been the subject of trade rumours as Vancouver builds, and that Tampa Bay could pursue forward help this campaign.
