Surrey Police Service says it is investigating reports of shots fired at a residential complex in South Surrey Thursday evening.
The Story
Surrey Police Service (SPS) says it is investigating a shots-fired incident in South Surrey Thursday evening.
Police were called to a residential complex on 175A Street, just north of the Canada–U.S. border, shortly before 7 p.m. after receiving reports of shots fired.
Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton said in a news release that two suspects described as men wearing dark clothing reportedly fled on foot, and police do not know whether they were connected to any vehicles.
Houghton said the suspects were not located despite officers containing and searching the area with the assistance of the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service.
SPS says officers found the person believed to have been the intended victim, and the person was uninjured.
Police say no injuries have been reported and it is not clear if there was any property damage.
The incident is thought to have been targeted, but Houghton said there is no evidence linking it to extortion.
Anyone with information or video footage is asked to call the SPS non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and refer to file 26-108223.
