Starbucks says its “coffeehouse uplifts” will bring refreshed seating, warmer designs and a redesigned espresso bar to three Metro Vancouver locations through 2027.

Starbucks has unveiled plans for what it calls “coffeehouse uplifts” at cafés across Canada, with three of the upgrades scheduled for Metro Vancouver locations that are already underway.
The company said the upgrades are designed to make cafés more welcoming, including “more comfortable seating,” warmer interior design elements and neighbourhood-inspired details tailored to the communities where the stores operate. Dawn Clark, Starbucks’ senior vice president of global design and concepts, said the company wants customers to feel the spaces are somewhere they can “stay longer, connect more and feel at home,” and that each upgrade begins with the neighbourhood it serves.
Starbucks also said the redesign includes a revamped espresso bar with improved visibility for customers to watch drinks being made. The company further plans to add dedicated space for customers using mobile ordering.
Among the Metro Vancouver cafés slated for the upgrade are the Scott and 72nd location at 7221 120th St., Delta; the Royal Square location at 800 McBride Blvd., New Westminster; and the Westgate Centre location at 20395 Lougheed Hwy., Maple Ridge.
Starbucks described the initiative as running in phases, noting that the coffeehouse uplifts are expected to continue through 2027, suggesting additional locations and design changes may follow beyond the three Metro Vancouver sites named in the announcement.
For shoppers, the most practical changes described in the plan are the seating and layout improvements, along with the espresso bar redesign that aims to make drink preparation more visible and the addition of dedicated space for mobile ordering, which aligns with how customers already place many orders in advance.
As the company begins the upgrades at these three addresses, customers visiting the affected locations may see interior changes as the cafés transition to the updated format, with the timeline extending across multiple months and into 2027.
