The Story
Bruno Mars launched his five-night “The Romantic Tour” run at Vancouver’s B.C. Place on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026, with a performance that stretched from his arrival music to the closing beats of “Uptown Funk,” according to a review by Stuart Derdeyn.
Derdeyn wrote that the show moved through material across Mars’ career, including a “show within the show” featuring Silk Sonic with Anderson .Paak. The review said there were two medleys of well-known songs within a 26-song set, and that keyboardist John Fossitt took lead vocals for “Blast Off,” the first song in the Silk Sonic segment.
The production, Derdeyn said, included multiple projection screens framing the mainstage, a round mobile screen travelling behind the backstage area, and a multi-tiered bandstand that could be configured in different ways. The review also described a vintage red Cadillac convertible appearing on stage for dancing action, plus video effects ranging from “puffy clouds” framing to disco-era split-screen strobe styling.
Derdeyn reported that after Mars’ closing “alter ego” segment as DJ Pee-Wee, a DJ set included chorus moments set to songs such as ABBA’s “Dancing Queen,” alongside Anderson .Paak’s hype-man and rapping roles. Raye then followed as a supporting act with a 10-piece backing band, and the review said Mars told the audience that Vancouver would be his home for the next little while.
