A November listings guide highlights seasonal menus, special dinners and holiday markets across Vancouver, the North Shore and Richmond.
The Story
A new round of food and drink events fills November across Metro Vancouver, including daily seafood specials, wine-paired dinners, cooking classes and seasonal markets.
Glowbal is offering a daily Lobster & Bubbles menu throughout November, available from 2 to 5 p.m. at 590 West Georgia St. The menu is described as including lobster croquettes, Thermidor, crispy rice with yuzu miso, a po’ boy, and lobster and prawn gratin.
Several events are scheduled on the North Shore and beyond Vancouver proper, including Loam Bistro’s Golden Hour from 2 to 5 p.m. on Fridays through Sundays. The listing places the restaurant at 230 West Esplanade in North Vancouver and describes items such as banana leaf-wrapped fish with coconut curry, whipped Brie with mango chutney, and beef tartare on Japanese milk bread with truffle mascarpone and Parmesan.
Oyster lovers are also being directed to two waterfront locations until Nov. 15. Cardero’s, at 1583 Coal Harbour Marina, and The Sandbar, at 1535 Johnston St., are offering three freshly shucked oysters paired with a six-ounce glass of Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc for $17.
Chef dinners, cooking classes and ticketed one-night experiences are also on the calendar. The Macallan dinner at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver runs Nov. 5, pairing a multi-course meal with six expressions from its Double Cask and Sherry Oak ranges, with the event described as limited to 30 guests. A Cambodian-Haitian four-hands dinner is scheduled for Nov. 9 at 1152 Alberni St., with seatings at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.
The guide also points to North Shore craft beer programming running through Nov. 12, with the Wildeye taco-and-beer flights noted for Nov. 8 and a closing Tacos & Taps event at Strathcona North on Nov. 12. It also says the North Shore tasting passport runs separately through Nov. 1–30.
For holiday-season shopping and drinks, the listings include the Vancouver Christmas Market at Jack Poole Plaza, 1055 Canada Place, from Nov. 16 through Dec. 24. The market is described as featuring German-inspired street food and seasonal drinks, with artisan stalls and a walk-in Christmas tree included. In Richmond, Steveston Sips runs from Nov. 19 to Dec. 31, with limited-time seasonal beverages, appetizers and desserts offered by participating businesses in Steveston Village.
The round-up also includes Wesbrook Village Holiday Market at Norman MacKenzie Square in Vancouver, which opens with a tree-lighting celebration on Nov. 20 and runs Fridays through Sundays from Nov. 20 to Dec. 20. The listing specifies free admission and gives hours as Fridays 3 to 9 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays noon to 7 p.m.
