Three taken to hospital after nine-vehicle crash on Alex Fraser Bridge southbound

BCEHS says three people were taken to hospital following a nine-vehicle collision on the Alex Fraser Bridge southbound shortly before midnight Thursday.

The Story

BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) says three people were taken to hospital after a nine-vehicle collision on the Alex Fraser Bridge southbound late Thursday evening.

Crews were called to the area shortly before midnight, and paramedics provided emergency medical treatment and transported three patients to hospital. BCEHS says two were in serious but stable condition, while one was in stable condition.

Delta Police Department says nine vehicles were involved in the crash. Police said they are still working to determine the cause, adding that witnesses reported an initial collision between two vehicles, followed by a chain reaction of other vehicles that were not able to stop in time before colliding themselves.

Police said impaired driving has been ruled out, but speed may be a contributing factor, and the incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information or dash cam footage is asked to call the Delta Police at 604-946-4411.
