Abbotsford Police stop 12 impaired drivers in 12 hours ahead of long weekend

Abbotsford Police Department says officers removed 12 impaired drivers from city roads in a 12-hour period overnight.

The Story

Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) says its officers stopped 12 impaired drivers in 12 hours overnight.

In a social media post Saturday, AbbyPD said it was “grateful these drivers were stopped before someone was seriously injured or killed,” adding that the numbers were “concerning.”

The department also urged drivers to plan ahead if they are drinking, pointing people to options such as arranging a designated driver, calling a taxi or using a rideshare service, or staying where they are.

According to AbbyPD’s post, the department has taken 800 impaired drivers off the road so far this year.
