Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold remains in doubt after being ruled out for the Week 9 game against Arizona and facing uncertainty for Week 10 vs. Las Vegas.
The Story
The Seattle Seahawks’ quarterback situation remains unsettled as Sam Darnold’s injury recovery continues to create questions about his availability beyond Week 9.
Darnold was ruled out of Seattle’s Week 9 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals, and the latest update suggests his absence could extend into next week. He is now listed as in jeopardy of missing the Seahawks’ Week 10 game against the Raiders.
The concerns stem from injuries sustained during Seattle’s Week 8 loss to the Chicago Bears. Head coach Mike Macdonald previously described Darnold’s quadriceps injury as week-to-week, and he ruled out the idea of placing Darnold on injured reserve.
Darnold also suffered a cracked rib early in the Bears game but continued playing. Macdonald said the quarterback sustained the injury on the second play before finishing the contest.
If Darnold cannot play against Las Vegas, Seattle would have to proceed without its first-choice quarterback. Drew Lock has also been managing an elbow injury.
Macdonald previously indicated the coaching staff would manage Lock’s throwing workload while preparing both Lock and Milroe. Milroe remains another option if Lock is unable to handle the full workload. Lock has experience starting for Seattle and previously led the team to a win over Arizona in Week 2.
