In Penticton–Summerland, Conservative MLA Amelia Boultbee—elected in October 2024—is not running again in B.C.’s 2026 provincial election.
The Story
Penticton–Summerland is a provincial riding in the Okanagan & Kootenays region.
The riding is currently represented by Conservative MLA Amelia Boultbee, who first took office in 2024. She collected 11,615 votes to win 41.37 per cent in the 2024 B.C. provincial election.
Boultbee was first elected in October 2024 as a Conservative, then left the party about a year later over ideological disagreements to sit as an Independent. She later joined the New Democrats in July.
Her move boosted the NDP caucus to 48 members and increased then-Premier David Eby’s parliamentary majority to two seats, though it also drew criticism from her constituents.
B.C. residents cast their ballots in the 2026 provincial election after Premier David Eby called a snap election in September, with election day coming one week after the municipal elections.
In total, voters will elect 93 Members of the Legislative Assembly to serve in the 44th B.C. Parliament, with a majority requiring 47 seats. B.C. has 93 seats.
