Jesper Bratt added a goal and an assist for New Jersey, while Jack Hughes contributed two assists. Jake Allen made 20 saves as he played in his 500th career game.
For Vancouver, Linus Karlsson scored. Leevi Meriläinen made 31 saves for the Canucks, who have lost three straight games and were outscored 14-5.
The Devils scored twice in the second period to take control. Bratt and Hischier both scored power-play goals during that stretch, pushing New Jersey to a 4-1 lead.
Hischier’s first goal for the Devils was his 200th in 613 games, making him the fifth Swiss player to reach 200 goals for New Jersey and the second fastest among that group. His linemate, Timo Meier, has 200 goals in 569 games.
New Jersey’s scoring included a power-play goal by Hischier that tied the game after Vancouver opened with a 1-0 first-period advantage on a power-play goal by Karlsson from Brock Boeser and Jake DeBrusk.
