Vancouver Rise FC parts ways with sporting director Stephanie Labbé as club eliminates the role for 2027

Vancouver Rise FC announced Friday it has ended its agreement with sporting director Stephanie Labbé and is eliminating the position as part of planning for 2027.

The Story

Vancouver Rise FC announced Friday that it has parted ways with sporting director Stephanie Labbé.

The club said Labbé was its first employee and helped build the team that won the inaugural Northern Super League championship last year.

Rise management said it has eliminated the sporting director position as part of its planning for 2027.

Labbé said in an Instagram post that the departure was not how she envisioned her tenure ending, but that she is proud of what the club accomplished.

The move comes just over a month after Vancouver fired head coach Anja Heiner-Moller, with the defending champions currently seeking a playoff berth.

The fourth-place Rise are set to visit third-place Ottawa on Sunday, and they can clinch a post-season spot with a win if Halifax loses to Montreal on Saturday.
