UFC Sydney books Robert Whittaker vs. Bogdan Guskov in light heavyweight co-main

UFC Sydney has added a light heavyweight co-main event between Robert Whittaker and Bogdan Guskov for Feb. 6 at Afterpay Arena in Sydney.

The Story

UFC Sydney is adding a light heavyweight co-main event featuring former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker against Bogdan Guskov, with the bout scheduled for Feb. 6 at Afterpay Arena in Sydney.

The Whittaker–Guskov pairing was announced as part of UFC Sydney’s fight lineup, which is set to be the promotion’s third event of 2027 following a UFC Fight Night event in Dallas and a UFC 336 card in Edmonton on Jan. 30.

Whittaker relinquished the UFC’s 185-pound belt in 2019 after being knocked out by Israel Adesanya. The former champion then rebounded with three straight wins leading to a UFC 271 rematch with Adesanya, which Whittaker lost via unanimous decision.

After alternating wins and losses over his next four fights, Whittaker was submitted by Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 308. He followed with a split-decision loss to Reinier de Ridder the following year, leaving Whittaker on his second two-fight losing streak in his career.

Guskov, meanwhile, was submitted in his UFC debut in 2023, then put together a four-fight streak of finishes that included a first-round knockout of Nikita Krylov during the undercard of Whittaker’s fight with de Ridder.

UFC Sydney’s card is also scheduled to include a lightweight headliner with Quillan Salkilld taking on Benoit Saint-Denis, along with several “Road to UFC” bouts.
