The Story

Def Leppard and Goo Goo Dolls are scheduled to play Rogers Arena in Vancouver on May 14, with tickets going on sale Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. via Livenation.com.

Ticketmaster.ca lists the concert start time as 7 p.m. The U.K. glam band The Struts has been named as the support act for the show.

The pair’s co-headlining run follows Def Leppard’s recently announced 45-date tour with Goo Goo Dolls, which also includes Canadian dates in Toronto and Edmonton.

In Canada, the tour is set to play March 9 at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto and May 16 at Rogers Place in Edmonton.

Def Leppard formed in 1976 in Sheffield and, alongside Iron Maiden, helped establish itself as a leader of the early 1980s New Wave of British Heavy Metal. The band broke into mainstream North American success with Pyromania in 1982, driven by the single Photograph.

The album generated additional singles including Rock of Ages and Foolin’, and sold about 100,000 copies per week during all of 1983. Drummer Rick Allen was also able to continue after a serious car accident that left him without his left arm, using a custom electronic drum kit and performing with his legs.

The band later released Hysteria in 1985, featuring singles including Animal, Woman, Armageddon, Rocket, Pour Some Sugar On Me and the ballad Love Bites. During recording for Adrenalize, guitarist Steve Clark was put on leave to address severe addiction issues, and he died in his home in 1991; Vivian Campbell was later chosen as Clark’s replacement.

In 2024, Def Leppard released a new single titled Just Like 73, with a guest solo from Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello.
