New York scored three times in the third period to defeat Vancouver 6-2 on Oct. 11, 2026, at Madison Square Garden.
The Story
The New York Rangers opened a post-Igor Shesterkin stretch with a 6-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026, at Madison Square Garden.
Shesterkin is reported to have suffered a knee injury that will keep him out for the remainder of the season. The Rangers still managed the result despite surrendering an equalizing short-handed goal late in the second period, which came from Elias Pettersson.
Tye Kartye scored his second goal of the night to help New York regain the lead at 3-2, and the home side added three more goals in the third period while limiting Vancouver to four shots on goal.
Rookie goalie Dylan Garand made 19 saves on 21 shots. Rangers captain J.T. Miller said after the win that “everybody’s got to pull a little more weight around here,” adding that losing Shesterkin is “devastating,” while head coach Mike Sullivan said the group “hasn’t lost any level of enthusiasm” and believes in the team game New York is building.
