The Story
The Vancouver Canucks will host the Calgary Flames in a divisional matchup at Rogers Arena on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026, with puck drop scheduled for 10 p.m. ET.
Ahead of the game, Covers betting analyst Quinn Allen said he expects another high-scoring matchup and listed multiple betting angles based on recent results and head-to-head trends. Allen described Vancouver’s last game as a 9-7 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday, saying the Canucks’ defense struggled while their offense showed “plenty of life.” He also pointed to Calgary’s recent performance, noting the Flames came into the matchup after a 6-1 loss to Seattle.
Allen’s top pick was the Canucks moneyline, writing that he expects Vancouver to take advantage of Calgary “coming off an ugly season-opening defeat.” He cited recent head-to-head form, stating the Canucks have gone 6-3-1 in their last 10 games against the Flames, and he said Vancouver has the more appealing offensive profile along with home-ice advantage.
In addition to the moneyline, Allen recommended betting the over at 6.5 goals. He said both teams allowed 15 combined goals in their season openers and noted that three of the last four meetings have cleared 6.5 total goals.
Allen also highlighted a player prop, backing Marco Rossi to score. He said Rossi scored three times in his first two games, including twice against Edmonton on Thursday, and he described Rossi as leading Vancouver with four high-danger chances early in the season. For another player prop, Allen suggested Matt Coronato to record over 0.5 assists, pointing to three assists in three meetings with Vancouver last season and saying Coronato recorded 16 assists with a 74.29% individual point percentage at 5-on-5 last season.
For a goal scorer bet, Allen pointed to Brock Boeser, saying he has recorded 31 points in 39 games against Calgary in his Canucks career, including 16 goals, and that Boeser scored once in three meetings with the Flames in 2025-26.
The odds listed with the preview included Canucks at 52% on the moneyline and an over/under price of Over 6.5 (47%) and Under 6.5 (54%). The spread was listed with Flames +1.5 (72%) and Canucks -1.5 (30%).
The preview also listed the matchup as Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026 at Rogers Arena, Vancouver, BC, and stated that the odds were correct at the time of publishing and could change.
