Kansas City announced Saturday that cornerback L’Jarius Sneed will meet the team in Seattle for Sunday Night Football at Lumen Field but remains listed as questionable with a knee injury.
The Story
The Kansas City Chiefs announced Saturday, Oct. 24 that veteran cornerback L’Jarius Sneed will not travel with the team to Seattle because of a personal matter, though he is expected to meet his teammates in the city ahead of Sunday’s game at Lumen Field.
In the team’s statement posted on X, the Chiefs said, “CB L’Jarius Sneed is not traveling with the team today (personal) but will meet the team in Seattle,” adding that “Sneed’s game status remains Questionable with a knee injury.”
The Chiefs also said they signed LB Cooper McDonald to the active roster, and that McDonald’s “game status has been removed,” indicating he is no longer listed on the injury report.
According to the Chiefs’ official injury report, Sneed was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday while managing the knee issue.
Sneed entered Kansas City’s Week 6 game against the Los Angeles Chargers with the same questionable designation but ultimately suited up. In that Oct. 18 contest, the Chiefs won 22-6, with Sneed recording five tackles, one pass defended and a forced fumble.
Through five games this season, the 29-year-old has appeared in five games and posted 30 combined tackles, three passes defended and two forced fumbles.
Sneed returned to Kansas City in June after spending two seasons with the Tennessee Titans, and he has previously played a key role in the Chiefs’ back-to-back Super Bowl wins following the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
Ahead of Sunday’s matchup, the Seahawks will also be watching the impact on Kansas City’s defensive secondary. Seattle’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba enters the game leading the NFL with 49 receptions, 717 receiving yards and seven touchdown catches through six games, including a 12-catch, 134-yard performance against the Denver Broncos on Oct. 15.
The Chiefs’ injury and defensive context arrives as Kansas City enters Seattle with a 5-0 record. As of the team’s ranking cited in the report, Kansas City has allowed a 74.1 passer rating and 6.1 yards per attempt, both listed as fourth in the NFL, and has surrendered four passing touchdowns, the second-fewest in the league.
Seattle is seeking to snap a two-game losing streak after falling to a 3-3 record. Sunday’s kickoff is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET at Lumen Field.
