Carolina defeated Vancouver 6-3 at Rogers Arena on Oct. 20, 2026, with Logan Stankoven scoring twice during his home-province return.
The Story
Logan Stankoven had a memorable homecoming in British Columbia as the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Vancouver Canucks 6-3 in a late-night game at Rogers Arena on Oct. 20, 2026.
Stankoven was joined by friends, family and supporters from his minor and major junior hockey days, and said beforehand that “a lot of people that have cheered me on from my minor hockey days” would be in the building. “It’s a great supporting cast that I have, and I’m very grateful for that,” he added.
Stankoven opened the scoring for Carolina, and the game quickly turned into a back-and-forth affair. Linus Karlsson scored for Vancouver at 10:10 of the first period at even strength to tie the game 1-1.
Nikolaj Ehlers gave the Hurricanes the lead again at 12:09 of the first period at even strength, but Vancouver responded with a late first-period goal from Jonathan Lekkerimäki at 19:58 to force another tie.
In the second period, Nicolas Deslauriers scored for Carolina, marking his first goal in a Hurricanes sweater, while Max Sasson later pulled Vancouver even again. Sasson’s tying goal came with assists credited to Zeev Buium and Brendan Gallagher at 13:07 at even strength.
Carolina added to its lead in the third period, with Deslauriers scoring again before Nikolaj Ehlers made it a decisive sequence late. With Vancouver’s net empty, Ehlers found Stankoven, and Stankoven scored to help seal the win.
The Hurricanes also got a strong all-around night from their forwards, including Jackson Blake, who recorded three points, with assists on three of the line’s four goals.
