October listings across Metro Vancouver include multiple chef collaborations, oyster and pasta classes, and several Halloween-themed tastings and cocktail events.

Metro Vancouver’s October food and drink calendar includes special dinners and classes led by visiting chefs, alongside local-hosted workshops ranging from oyster shucking to pasta making and Halloween cocktails.
Early in the month, Bar Tartare marks its third birthday on Sunday, Oct. 4, running from 5 p.m. until late at 54 Alexander St. The evening includes a birthday menu created with Go Flying Squirrel, Stretch & Fold and Mak N Ming, with wine specials tied to the event.
A practical seafood lesson is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 7, when Fanny Bay hosts a 14-person Fanny Bay Oyster Master Class at its Kelp Room. The class runs at 6:30 p.m. at 762 Cambie St. and includes 12 oysters for shucking practice, an oyster tasting, grilled oyster starters, a Sea’cuterie board and beverages.
Thanksgiving week offerings include a multi-day dining option at Provence Marinaside. Chef-owner Jean-Francis Quaglia’s three-course menu is served from Oct. 7 to 12 at 1177 Marinaside Crescent, with reservations accepted at 604-681-4144.
Several mid-month events add pasta and seasonal harvest programming. The Dalmore Scotch Dinner is set for Thursday, Oct. 15 at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver’s Studio (900 West Georgia St.), running 6:30 to 10 p.m. The Italian Kitchen also offers an Italian Kitchen Pasta Class on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 2 to 5 p.m. at 860 Burrard St.
For apple lovers and mushroom fans, UBC Botanical Garden hosts its annual UBC Apple Festival on Oct. 17 and 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 6804 SW Marine Dr., and Swallow Tail Supper Club runs a Swallow Tail Wild Mushroom Dinner on Oct. 17 and 18 at 6:30 p.m. at 495 E 20th Ave.
Late October includes Halloween-focused experiences and larger tastings. D/6 offers a Halloween Cocktail Masterclass on Sunday, Oct. 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. at 39 Smithe St., and Fairmont Hotel Vancouver schedules a Halloween-themed haunted “Castle Confidential” mystery on Oct. 22 and 23 at 900 West Georgia St. The same hotel also runs a Halloween twist on afternoon tea through Oct. 18 on Thursdays and Fridays to Sundays, with additional dates from Oct. 21 to Nov. 1.
