Milwaukee schools close for Brewers World Series parade Friday

Milwaukee Public Schools has cancelled classes for Friday’s Brewers World Series victory parade through downtown.

The Story

Milwaukee Public Schools has cancelled classes on Friday so fans can attend the Brewers’ World Series title parade through downtown Milwaukee, which is expected to draw thousands and lead to heavy traffic.

The Brewers clinched their first World Series title in franchise history on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026, defeating the Tampa Bay Rays 4–1 in five games.

The victory parade will end with a fan fest at Henry Maier Festival Park near the shore of Lake Michigan.

Milwaukee officials also announced a formal dress rule tied to a court order in neighboring Waukesha County, where presiding judge Michael Maxwell said Brewers attire would be considered “in compliance with professional decorum expected of courtroom staff, litigants and attorneys appearing before the court” through the conclusion of the parade.

A large police presence is expected to help manage crowds and traffic for the celebration.

The Brewers franchise began as the Seattle Pilots in 1969 before moving to Milwaukee in 1970 to become the Brewers, and Milwaukee last celebrated a World Series championship when the Milwaukee Braves won in 1957 before relocating to Atlanta in 1966.
