Pete Fry’s Green Party of Vancouver released its 71-page election platform on Sept. 29, 2026, outlining commitments for Vancouver City Council, Vancouver Park Board and Vancouver School Board ahead of the civic election on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026.
Fry, a city councillor first elected in 2018, is seeking to replace Mayor Ken Sim and his ABC Vancouver majority in City Council.
The platform’s housing proposals include judging affordability against local household incomes, setting affordability targets at 30 per cent of median household income, and using that benchmark in reporting.
The Greens also propose creating a new municipal housing bond program in which individual and institutional investors would help finance affordable, City-owned housing in exchange for a financial return, with homes remaining publicly owned.
To protect lower-cost secured purpose-built rental housing, the platform calls for a fund to allow the City to acquire buildings at risk of being lost to redevelopment or speculation, alongside partnerships.
On renters’ support, the platform would bring back a dedicated Renters’ Office; the City’s previous Renters’ Office was closed by the ABC-majority City Council in January 2023 after it received about 370 inquiries per year.
For transportation, the Greens propose converting at least 11 per cent of Vancouver roads from vehicle use to public/green and active transportation spaces, and they target Broadway for a specific change involving bike lanes.
The platform commits to installing bike lanes on Broadway, citing the impact of the “new subway for Broadway” on road traffic while construction is underway.
The Greens also propose rebooting the Broadway bike lanes debate, noting that the ABC-led City Council rejected bike lanes as part of the permanent street design for seven blocks of Broadway that were excavated to build five subway stations for SkyTrain’s Millennium Line Broadway extension in 2023.
Among the platform’s proposed candidates, the Greens are running four City Council candidates: Annette Reilly, Bridget Burns, Camil Dumont and Stephanie Smith.
The Greens are also fielding three Park Board commissioner candidates, including incumbent Tom Digby, and two School Board candidates.
